Taken the day after the Canola Field at Sunset (Day 7).
I hadn't planned on using this image for day 8, but when I was getting the original choice ready, I stumbled across another image in that set and couldn't make the call.
Leave it for another day and go with the double rainbow.
8:50PM, the rain has just passed. I was walking past the window and caught a glimpse of the rainbow. When I looked closer, I noticed that there might be a full rainbow so I grabbed the camera and walked out to the street in front of the house.
The full rainbow was visible with a bonus: a second rainbow on both sides.
The light from the setting sun added to the scene. The sun was just creeping between the clouds and the western horizon—creating a line of light on the house.
After taking the initial shots, I spent some time trying to get enough images to stitch together a panorama of the entire rainbow. I was able to get the full panorama, but I wasn't happy with the result. The colours and the light didn't quite work.
In the end, I found this black and white of the double rainbow with the strip of light on the house was the best image. Maybe because it's not a typical rainbow shot.
The original without adjustments. You can barely make out the second rainbow and it wasn't quite working for me.
From the panorama attempts. The peak of the full rainbow.
Looking west towards the sunset. If you look close, you can see the small opening between the clouds and horizon the creates the strip of light on the house.
The other side of the rainbows in black and white.
