"Dad, go inside and get the guy that's supposed to carry our bags"
Fernie, BC. The stopping point on day 1 of our summer holiday.
We're on our way to Coeur d'Alene and Spokane. This is about the half way point and we have planned to stay the night because 10 hours in the car with kids that are 5 and 7 years old is not advised.
As we pull up at about 4:30PM, Matty comes up with the gem above. I go inside to check in. While I'm doing that, I notice the gentlemen checking me in is also the owner of this Super 8.
Once I have the key and the rest of the family, Matty looks up the owner and says:
"Is he going to carry our bags now?"
Unfortunately for Matty, his last hotel stay was at the Banff Springs and he's expecting a little more service than a Super 8 provides.
We stayed the night. In the morning, I snapped this shot as I was loading up the car (carried the bags myself).
In case you're wondering, I did wait for those headlights in the distance to be in the frame.
We had the free breakfast, but not in the hot tub while surfing the internet.
Take the Cowboy Trail if you can. Much more scenic than Highway 2 and worth the extra time.
I was very surprised to see this old fridge and antlers not locked up in the cage behind.
